A lot of threads on MN lately talk about civility.
Is civility, peace, and harmony possible without Jesus? If not, how is it possible?
Should we try to bring "peace, peace when there is no peace"? Is civility without Christianity even a laudable goal?
Should Christians be concerned with trying to make heathens act more like Christians in terms of civility, peacefulness, and so on? Or should we focus primarily on leading more people into the kingdom?

That may be true; one can study the intricacies of specific doctrines of Islam the same as the many denominations of Christianity. The point, however, is basic and fundamental; what is the measurement standard of being a true muslim and what is the measurement standard of being a true christian?
Then, who do we find emulating said measurement standards?

why do you find it so hard to actually address the point of the thread? It is to discuss the similarities between Christian and Islamic beliefs, not to criticise only one side. When will we see you criticising Christianity, Mmmm?

The premise of this OP is selfish, moronic, and ignorant. Because too many Christians are unable to examine themselves and realise that "accepting Jesus" has done nothing to advance world peace for the various cultures that follow Christianity.
The idea that "accepting Jesus" would stop anyone building another temple is also moronic. You can interpret a Christian bible in so many ways that to think it would stop someone building a temple to show just how fucking much they worship their newfound Messiah is to show a profound ignorance of human nature and history.

Muslims don't like any prophet, saint or angel be painted for fun. They always protest it. Even if it be Jesus. I just wonder why some people forment trouble
Современная девушка часто готова тратить гораздо больше своих душевных сил на карьеру, чем расходовать их на построение искренних отношений с избранником.

How or why is it that a racist Hitlerian like Pat Robertson can be presented on this forum without objection from the forum's many far right posters? These are the same ones who call Louis Farrakhan a racist but they have no problem with a Hitlerian like Robertson. Such hypocrisy

Was Jesus real? Dont know. Just dont believe all the god stuff, and to me, the Bible is a fictional book written by men.
I do like the point made about his birth....that rather cracked me up.
Great to see read you again Marnix
and of course the rest of you and Sir Ducky

Homer.....at this time in my life I believe this sin was unique to those scribes that actually said that Jesus was doing things by Beelzebub. If I can be shown differently by the word then I am open to correction by the word at all times.

The short answer is Tribalism.
The long answer is Tribalism.
Also, Jesus was not capable of being a Christian because Christianity didnt exist yet. If he existed and came to Earth now, Jesus would most likely be a Christian, as far as I can tell.

Some member of this forum said that when the leading figure head in the form of Christ himself endured so much and sacrificed himself,it is expected of his followers to follow his example and make sacrifices, big or small. The cross has become a sacred symbol in this very context.
Now, if that be the case, then the native Amerindians who supposedly sacrificed human beings on an industrial scale either with or without the consent of the victims are in a way following the example set by Jesus. Arent they?
If so , then why are they sneered at and why is it that the sacrifices of the followers of Christ praised high as being those of martyrs?

What you are seeing is a cultural icon, the churchs and hollywoods view. Jesus was more likely a little hook-nosed, swarthy, mediterranean fella.

Atheist here, actually even as I child I already have a lot of doubts when it comes to religion and up until now I think it is all mumbo jumbo. But I still do respect those who believe what they want to.
